Improving fitness
Fitness is one of the health priorities for many people especially for the frequent gym-goers to improve their physique or the ones who need to lose weight to improve on their certain medical conditions.
Coffee could help you achieve your ideal weight because it reduces the risk of obesity. Coffee contains polyphenols which is a type of antioxidant that could extract those harmful radicals from the body through natural waste. Antioxidants, in turn, prevent inflammation and improve metabolism.
Mitigating the development of medical conditions
Developing medical conditions are expensive, inconvenient, and a bane to living well. Coffee could help you prevent you from developing these conditions by frequently consuming it in significant amounts.
According to a study conducted by Frank Hu, MD, MPH, Ph.D., nutrition and epidemiology professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, people who drank more than six or seven cups of coffee daily are 35% less likely to have Type 2 diabetes than people who drank less. This is because coffee contains magnesium and chromium that help the body effectively process the hormone insulin that controls the blood sugar.
Drinking coffee also reduces the risk of developing liver cancer. In a study conducted in the United States, people who drink two or three cups of coffee daily could mitigate developing hepatocellular carcinoma and chronic liver disease (CLD) by 38% and 46%.
Aside from mitigating liver cancer, drinking coffee could also lower the risk of heart diseases. In a study conducted with Kaiser Permanente health plan members, people who drink one to three coffee cups per day are 20% less likely to develop abnormal heart rhythms. People who drink two or more coffee cups are 20% less likely to experience heart strokes.
Drinking coffee could also decrease the risk of developing Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease. According to Dr. Hu, it is due to caffeine. It was also found out in a study conducted in Finland and Sweden that drinking three to five cups of coffee daily is found to have lowered the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease by 65%.
Improving mental health
Drinking a cup of coffee daily could lift your mood too. This is because coffee contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties and has abilities that could block receptors in the brain that could bind with chemicals that could cause depression.
Maintaining good relationships with people improve well-being too. One way to improve our relationships is to consistently spend time with the people who matter in our lives. And if they’re a coffee drinker then you can always go to the cafe together!
